Bitcoin as a resilient digital life form beyond destruction

Bitcoin is the first example of a new form of life. It lives and breathes within the internet environment. It sustains itself because it rewards those who help it survive. It exists because it provides a useful service that people are willing to pay for. Anyone can run a copy of its code from anywhere. All working copies constantly communicate with each other. If one copy gets damaged, it is immediately discarded without sentiment. It is fully transparent: anyone can review its code and track all operations. Its code is immutable; it cannot be altered, rigged, bribed, stopped, or even interrupted. If half of our planet were destroyed by a nuclear explosion, Bitcoin would survive and continue to operate. It would still offer its services. It would still pay for its upkeep. The only way to shut down Bitcoin is to destroy every server in the system, which is very difficult since many servers are distributed across different countries and many people want to use them. The only real way to kill Bitcoin is to make its services so pointless and outdated that no one wants to pay for them anymore, and no one wants to host the system on their servers. Then, it would run out of money and die of hunger. However, as long as people want to use it, it is very difficult toestroy, hack, or stop even temporarily.
