Bridge ETH Only When Moving Chains — Check Network and Token Format
I only need to bridge ETH when I want to move it off the chain it's currently on — for example from Ethereum mainnet to an L2 or to a different blockchain. If I'm staying on the same network or using a dApp that supports native mainnet ETH, no bridge is required.
Some rollups and alternative chains accept native ETH through their official bridges; others require wrapped ETH (WETH) or a bridge-specific token. If I'm sending to a centralized exchange, I can often choose a supported network instead of bridging.
I should use official or reputable bridges, check fees and token formats, confirm the destination network and address, and always test with a small amount to minimize risk.
Analysis
Recommendation
Confirm the destination network and token format first, prefer official or well-reviewed bridges, compare fees and confirmation times, and perform a small test transfer before moving larger amounts.
