Can CRVUSD Be Frozen? Stability, Custodianship, and On-Chain Guarantees

I’m trying to assess whether the stablecoin CRVUSD can be frozen by its issuer or custodian. I want to swap some crypto into a stable asset and then park it in a vault, and I’ve seen discussions about CRVUSD but I need to know if it carries the same risk as Circle’s USDC, which has been known to be frozen under certain circumstances.

My main concern is counterparty risk and governance controls. If CRVUSD is fully on-chain with transparent collateral and auditable reserves, the risk of freezing would be lower; however, if the issuer or custodial entities retain centralized keys or discretionary controls, freezing remains a potential risk. I’m specifically looking for clear disclosures about minting/burning authority, reserve backing, reserve custody, and any emergency shutdown or freeze mechanisms tied to CRVUSD. Until I confirm who controls the minting and redemption and under what conditions, I can’t be confident that placing funds in a vault is safe from liquidation or freezing actions.

In short, I want concrete information on the governance model, counterparty risk, and whether there are on-chain guarantees that prevent unilateral freezing. If the read is that CRVUSD operates with fully decentralized, auditable backing and no centralized ability to freeze, I’d consider it. If not, I’d proceed with caution until those controls are fully documented and transparent.
