Crypto.com Experience from Colombia: Disappointments and Lessons

My experience with Crypto.com from Colombia: what I wish I had known In 2020, during the pandemic, I decided to trust Crypto.com. I was attracted by their offer: a Visa card with tangible benefits (cashback, refunds on services like Spotify/Netflix, access to VIP lounges), and a promise of ease of use worldwide. To access the Jade Green card, I staked the required tokens. What I later discovered was that, from Colombia, it wasn’t even possible to receive the physical card, something that wasn’t clearly communicated by the platform. Still, I decided to stay committed. Today, in 2025, I have never received it. The support team responded multiple times assuring it was shipped, but it never arrived. I then understood that for logistical and regulatory reasons, they are not authorized to distribute cards in most of Latin America, and the few cases where they have arrived are due to very specific agreements. While I kept my staking active from 2020 to 2024, the conditions changed at least three times: - The cashback was reduced and limited with monthly caps. - Benefits like Spotify and Netflix, initially presented as permanent while maintaining the stake, became limited to 6 months. - The staking stopped depending on a fixed amount of CRO and became tied to a dollar value, doubling the economic commitment without prior notice. - Additionally, the interest paid for locking CRO was withdrawn, and the CRO token has lost over 90% of its market value since 2021, leaving many users, including myself, with significant losses due to immobilized investment. In practice, the benefits of the Jade card have progressively deteriorated, while the risk has increased. Although the Crypto.com app and ecosystem may work for certain profiles and markets, my experience from Colombia has been disappointing: no physical card, multiple rejections at stores when using virtual or NFC cards, and constant changes that severely affected the cost-benefit relationship. This is not a message to attack or generate fear, but a genuine account for other users considering entering this ecosystem from countries where support and conditions don’t match the promises. Making informed evaluations is key to avoiding long-term frustrations.
