From PoW Criticism to Changing Energy Narratives

I remember when everyone complained about Bitcoin and Ethereum gobbling electricity because of Proof of Work. It was a major criticism that shaped mainstream skepticism.

Ethereum’s move to Proof of Stake addressed much of that narrative, while Bitcoin’s energy debate continues to evolve around mining efficiency and grid services. The conversation shifted from just consumption to how that energy is sourced and used.

I see this as a reminder that technology and public narratives change — environmental concerns drove real technical and policy responses, and those shifts matter more than the original soundbites.
