Paying In-Person with Bitcoin: Use Lightning or Crypto Cards for Fast Payments

I want to pay for things around me with Bitcoin, and there are a few practical ways to do it depending on merchant support.

If a shop accepts Bitcoin directly I can scan a merchant QR code with an on‑chain or Lightning wallet; Lightning is best for instant, low‑fee in‑person payments. If merchants don’t accept crypto I can use a crypto debit card or a payment processor (BitPay, BTCPay Server) that converts BTC to local currency at checkout.

I should check merchant acceptance maps/apps, use a reputable Lightning‑capable wallet for speed, and be mindful of on‑chain fees, confirmation times and tax/reporting implications.
