Potential Conflicts of Interest in Protocol Development and Funding Transparency

There are two potential conflicts of interest I observe. The first involves the risk of prioritizing Unspendable Labs' business objectives over the interests of the community, such as favoring Horizon Wallet and Explorer over other options. The second concerns the possibility that the funding entities of Unspendable Labs could steer the protocol development to serve their own interests. Responding to the second concern is straightforward: all current funding for Unspendable Labs comes solely from myself, the Bitcoin Frontier Fund (which has publicly announced its investment), and close friends and family, whose details I prefer not to disclose. Addressing the first issue is more complex. There is a real potential conflict of interest where I might influence protocol changes to benefit UL’s commercial interests. This scenario is common when someone leading a community project also manages a business that depends on that project. However, I can state that UL and I are more motivated to make Counterparty successful than to boost UL's short-term profits. This commitment is reflected in the transparency of all development activities, including issue tracking, prioritization, and open-source status of Horizon Wallet.
