Stop Splitting SOL — Consolidation Is Now Practical
I'm no longer splitting my SOL across multiple wallets; I keep it consolidated for simplicity.
I feel that custody and staking options have matured enough that the extra complexity and fees of spreading funds outweigh the marginal security benefits for smaller balances.
I still use a hardware wallet or trusted custodian for large holdings and keep backups to avoid single-point failures.
Analysis
Recommendation
For small to medium balances, consolidation is reasonable to save time and fees. For significant sums, keep assets on a hardware wallet or trusted custodian and maintain backups.
