The core issues with TON aren't just about missing libraries or tools, but stem from fundamental flaws in the platform's design and positioning. While recent improvements include support for FunC/Talk in VS Code and some libraries, the overall developer experience remains cumbersome and uninspiring. The platform's architecture, especially its asynchronous model, imposes significant development overhead, making complex operations like contract testing, deployment, and upgrades much more difficult than on more mature blockchains. Additionally, the lack of native or well-supported SDKs for front-end integration, along with slow or unreliable UX elements such as TON Connect, frustrates users and developers alike. Comparatively, newer chains like Sui and Aptos utilize advanced DAG-based consensus mechanisms that allow for parallel processing and automated conflict resolution, significantly reducing developer burden and enhancing scalability. These platforms support atomic, parallel transactions at any level, enabling complex operations like batch NFT transfers to be executed efficiently and reliably. TON’s architecture, which shifts conflict handling onto the developer, results in higher complexity, slower development cycles, and limited scalability, which are critical flaws. Overall, TON’s fundamental weaknesses in architecture and developer ergonomics overshadow the existing tools and libraries, preventing it from reaching its full potential.
